welcome to our farm
Grey Ghost Farm is a small family farm at Baker Creek, British Columbia. We provide naturally raised lamb, beef and produce and proudly raise registered Arabian horses.
The sheep are South African Dorpers, mixed in with a few commercial ewes. The Dorper sheep was bred by the Department of Agriculture of South Africa when they crossed Dorset Horn Rams and Blackhead Persian ewes. From this humble beginning, the breed proved itself as hardy mutton sheep with a top quality, minimal-fat carcass at a relatively early age and the most sought after sheepskin in the world. Introduced to Canada by embryo transplant in 1990 by Quickheels Ranch in Savona, British Columbia.
Known primarily for their fertility, hardiness, and long breeding season, the Dorper are a great sustainable farm breed. They’re exceptionally adaptable to various climates and environments; at our farm, the lambs grow well, in part because of the ewes’ excellent mothering skills and milk production.
The Arabian horse comes from a proud and hardy heritage, one of the world’s oldest and purest breeds. Developed by nomadic Bedouin tribes on the Arabian peninsula, they were selected for their intelligence, endurance and close bond with humans. The Arabian’s distinctive refinement, high tail carriage and incredible stamina have allowed them to influence almost all modern light horse breeds.
The cattle are purebred and commercial Limousin, with a few Angus crosses. The Limousin cattle breed originates from western France where their roots are reportedly over 20,000 years old. Used for both draft and meat, the breed book was established in 1886 and introduced in Canada in 1968. A high-yield carcass, tender beef, low fat and hardy animals with strong mothering skills round out the reasons for their popularity.

The Flock
The Grey Ghost Farm sheep are part of our family as well. Every one has a name, and the ladies are quite friendly, enjoying a good scratch where they can’t reach. Beyond being the reason for our farm, they also take care of lawn mowing, weed control, and weekend entertainment.
Serenade
Serenade is the ranch princess. This beautiful part-Arab mare joined our family from Prairie Winds Arabians in Manitoba and was an Endurance athlete. Today, she enjoys trails and hanging out with her many farm friends - all whom she we leave to come get horse cookies. Spring of 2026 we are expecting her first foal.
Sasha
Sasha is the senior matriarch. This lovely purebred mare came to our family from Turning Point Ranch, a long-time broodmare she produces consistently beautiful foals. Spring of 2026 will be her last baby as she retires to oversee all the other farm critters. Sasha loves pampering and love from all who visit.
